SUNday - It's Alway Sunny in Florida

Today it was bright and sunny here in Boynton Beach.

It was also rainy.  It made me remember how much I love Florida, state where it can rain when it’s sunny… state where it can downpour in your front yard, but be dry as a bone in your backyard… state where it rains everyday during the summer at the exact same time.  I moved away from Florida for two years back in 2004-2005 and even into 2006.  I always missed my time here because even though you love the Sunshine State or hate it, Florida is where my heart belongs.

SUNday - Alligator Alley

September 23, 2012
Courtesy of Amy S.

It doesn’t always have to be a sunrise or sunset that captures the eye.  My best friend took this picture while driving from the west coast of Florida to the east coast.  It was a cloudy day (which was threatening our plans) and even though it did end up raining, the sun peeked out for a few hours.

SUNday – Cinque Terre

Riomaggiore, June 2012
It’s not just sunrises and sunsets that I love, but also the way the sun plays with objects to create interesting shadows.  In this picture, Frank and I were having a drink at a rooftop bar in Cinque Terre.  The setting sun creating the illusion of a wine glass on his shirt which is so very apropos.

SUNday - Caribbean Sea

This photo shows the sun just before it slipped under the horizon.  Frank and I were on a cruise of the Caribbean in 2009, and this spectacular sunset took place just after a short storm.  I find the best sunsets always come after rain or a cloudy day.

SUNday - Islamorada

It doesn’t get much more economical than watching the sun rise… or set… or make crazy shadows… or hide behind the clouds during an intense storm.  I love to watch the sun and do it on a daily basis.  Mostly from the dock behind my house, but I’ve captured some pretty good photos over the years from all over the world.

For this SUNday, a gorgeous sunset in Islamorada.

These are from an October 2007 trip to the Florida Keys, the first trip I ever took with the man who is now my husband.
